Post-9/11, Zane led a small telecom service provider through two economic downturns, in an industry in which prices fell by more than 70 percent. The company reached 80 percent revenue growth while keeping cash flow positive at the same time. Sales conversion rates grew from 50 percent to more than 80 percent.

Zane was able to reach these goals by creating an engaged employee group, topgrading each employee to ensure the company had A+ players devoted to customers and their needs. He was also an early adopter of social media, including blogs and podcasts.
