Charles is one of the world’s leading thinkers and practitioners in innovative learning and capability development. He has more than 35 years’ experience in strategic learning, capability building, and performance improvement.
His is acknowledged as a leading exponent on the 70:20:10 model. His career includes roles as chief learning officer for Reuters and Thomson Reuters, where he had responsibility for developing strategy and leading a 350-strong team of learning professionals for the firm’s 55,000 workforce.
Previously, Charles was head of the UK National Centre for Networked Learning and a professor at Southampton Business School. He has held senior business roles for global companies, including as a strategic technology director for Dow Jones and an evaluator for the European Commission’s learning, performance, and e-commerce research initiatives.
He has worked with more than 200 organizations across the world to help them develop their strategy and implement the 70:20:10 framework. In 2015 he co-authored the book '70:20:10 towards 100% perfromance' with Jos Arets and Vivian Heijnen.
