Dave Roddenberry is the national director of Onward to Opportunity, an initiative of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), providing leadership, strategic planning, and overall coordination. Before joining IVMF, Roddenberry managed veteran and military family programs at Duke University, where he oversaw the development of multiple programs designed to aid in military-to-civilian transition and improve access to and quality of mental healthcare for veterans. Roddenberry served in the U.S. Army, deploying to Iraq in 2003, and has also worked as an independent training consultant for Army and Marine Corps special operations forces, as well as in Kenya as project manager for an international healthcare corporation.
Roddenberry holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in political science and geography from Texas State University and a master’s degree in diplomacy and international conflict management from Norwich University. He resides in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife, Vanessa, and son.
