Imelda Wicks serves as Program Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) for the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center - a national leader in diversity. Imelda worked at Lamar University as their founding Executive Director of Diversity, Inclusive Excellence, and Training, and as DEI Consultant for The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She also worked at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in the Office of Intercultural and International Services leading programs for international and underrepresented/underserved students and workforce and as leader for a non-profit organization.
She has over 20 years of experience working in higher education, human resources, and healthcare as diversity, equity and inclusion professional. Imelda received a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Brownsville, a master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Studies from the University of Houston Clear Lake, and is a certified mediator and affirmative action professional.
