Lighten Up! Fostering Levity and Connection in Virtual Events
These days, meeting online is the only option. But how can you help people feel connected to each other? We will explore some ideas for how to bring levity to your regular meetings as well as create online events that will help you make personal connections with colleagues. Bring your ideas and success stories too. There will be time for sharing with the group. Less a presentation about and more of an experience of, this will be a workshop you won't want to miss!

Currently, Shannon Krajewski serves as the College Professional Development Coordinator at Los Angeles Pierce College. Upon taking on this newly-created position in 2017, Shannon worked to launch the employees of the largest community college district in the country into an LMS (Cornerstone), which provides a home and portal for all professional learning opportunities. She also secured and administered a $200k grant for professional learning for the college. She leveraged the grant to bring critical learning opportunities to the campus including a comprehensive customer service program for all employees and FranklinCovey workshops.
Shannon is energized by the sense of empowerment, pride and enthusiasm that people gain when they are introduced to the idea of living and growing in their strengths. Shannon began working with Gallup's StrengthsQuest in 2008 as an employee leadership development tool. She has presented best practices at Gallup's Strengths in Education conference. Shannon is regularly called upon by colleges and companies to introduce this strengths-based philosophy and her success in implementing it organization-wide.
Brian Moe, M.F.A. has been teaching Dance at Los Angeles Pierce College since 2016. He has chaired the Events and Recognition Committee that puts on the Student Awards Brunch and the Faculty Awards Banquet annually since 2018. He has helped the committee successfully present both in person, as well as virtual recognition ceremonies following the transfer to distance education in March of 2020. He recently took on the position of Faculty Professional Development Coordinator at LAPC where he again is able to use his creativity to present full day seminar events, and workshops throughout the year. As an artist in multi-media, Brian is an advocate for the Vision Resource Center and the training it can provide to improve video editing, filming, photoshop, etc, and how you can use these tools to create better presentations when putting together a program. Brian holds his MFA in Dance from CSULB, a BFA and a BA in dance and psychology respectively from SUNY Fredonia, and an AAS in Music/ Piano from SUNY Onondaga Community College. He lives in Long Beach with his fiancé, 3 dogs, and 2 cats.
Erin Strider is a senior project manager for ATD communications and awards as well as the higher education community. She coordinates special events and programming at ATD’s annual International Conference and Exposition for these groups and manages various projects supporting communications, ATD's awards programs, students in talent development-related programs, faculty who teach talent development-related courses, and talent development professionals working within a college or university setting. Erin holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University and has experience in association education, program/project management, conference planning, and operational logistics.
