Mobile learning is playing a larger role in training and development these days. There are many advantages to using mobile devices to address learning needs on the job. They deliver information at the moment of need, or pretty darn close to it. And they enable continual involvement in social networks. What can mobile learning contribute to your organization? What is the difference between mobile learning and mobile support? Can apps help with soft skills, such as leader development? And what are the implications of this new learning platform for training and development professionals? This session will tackle these questions and more, giving you a jumping-off point for exploring the world of mobile learning, and ways you might integrate this technology in your organization. Dr. Allison Rossett, long time Professor of Educational Technology at San Diego State University, is in the Training magazine HRD Hall of Fame, was a member of the ASTD International Board of Directors, and was honored by selection as an ISPI Member-for-Life. Recipient of ASTD’s recognition for lifelong contributions to workplace learning and performance and designated a 2008 ASTD LEGEND, Allison co-authored Job Aids and Performance Support: Moving from Knowledge in the Classroom to Knowledge Everywhere in 2007 and edited a brand new edition of First Things Fast: A Handbook for Performance Analysis, published in 2009. Allison now consults and speaks on matters related to learning, technology and results.
