Host: Association for Talent Development
By: Stephen Gill, Co-Owner, Learning2BGreat.com, Stephen J Gill Consulting and David Grebow, CEO, KnowledgeStar

This webcast will highlight the worldwide trend toward managing minds. You will learn why and how companies are changing the way they manage people and learning in the 21st-century knowledge economy. The webcast will describe the critical role managers will play enabling and empowering self-managed learning.

Most management practices and principles used today were developed in the 19th-century industrial economy. It was a dramatically different world in which people produced things with their hands. Training and learning occurred at a very different pace. Digital technology, automation, and globalization have forever changed all that. In the knowledge economy, people produce knowledge and know-how; therefore, we need to manage minds, not hands.

Yet companies and managers everywhere are still employing management principles and practices looking in the rearview mirror. Learn what managers in the smartest most forward-looking companies are doing to develop talent now and into the future.

In the webcast, the presenters will discuss material from their forthcoming ATD book. You will:

  • Learn how some of the world’s most successful companies are managing minds.
  • Learn the differences between the industrial economy focus on managing hands and knowledge economy need to manage minds.
  • Understand why this dramatic shift is inevitable and what it means for you and your company.
  • Discover the amazing positive impact of managing minds.
